Experienced DCS Automation Engineer for In-House DCS Team
On behalf of a leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical company, we are seeking an experienced DCS Automation Engineer to join their in-house DCS team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to large-scale expansion projects within a rapidly growing organization.
Our client is a trusted partner to prominent biotech developers and pharmaceutical companies. Customer trust, digitalization, a strong workplace culture, and the expansion of capacity and capabilities are key pillars of their strategic growth.
The current site has approximately 2000 employees and is expected to grow significantly as the company invests in capacity and capability expansions over the coming years. The site will receive new molecules for production, where the support organization, including Digital Technologies (IT and Automation), plays a significant role in the transfer of molecules to the site.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be part of the Site DeltaV team and will be responsible for the following:
Implementation of new DeltaV systems to support expansion projects on-site.
Supporting IT/Automation infrastructure installation and deployment.
Verifying system configuration of DeltaV procedural & physical models from system integrators for expansion projects, ensuring alignment with schedules and project milestones.
Reviewing and revising User, Functional, and Process Requirement Specifications for the Automation Systems being implemented.
Troubleshooting DeltaV code and functionality for Validation and Production systems supporting Upstream and Downstream manufacturing processes.
Collaborating with design/construction engineering partners to ensure automation design requirements are met in a timely manner.
Working closely with the Instruments and Controls, Process Engineering, and CQV teams to develop robust automation solutions.
Participating in quality activities such as Design Qualification and test activities.
Ensuring compliance with defined procedures and maintaining a validated state for automation systems.
This position is based in Hillerød, Denmark, and requires on-site presence.
Qualifications
Minimum B.Sc. degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical, Automation, Controls, Computer, Chemical, or Process Engineering).
Minimum 8+ years of experience within Automation Engineering, including 8+ years with DCS systems (DeltaV), Historians (PI), and reporting tools (InfoBatch).
Experience with programming and database systems.
General knowledge of servers and networks.
Proficiency in English is required.
Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is preferred.
Knowledge of batch processes, GMP, GAMP, and the S88 standard is an advantage.

About the Department
The Process Technology group consists of over 100 employees across five departments: Automation, Process Engineering, Validation, Engineering Science, and CAD Services. This team provides site-wide project support, offering expertise in automation, process, and validation engineering. They also ensure the smooth daily operation of engineering functions, including technical leadership and support for cell culture, purification, and pharmaceutical processing equipment.
The selected candidate will join a team of highly skilled colleagues within the IT/Automation department. The team supports new construction projects on-site, contributing to the expansion of the Hillerød facility. The role also includes integration into existing operations to understand the processes being transferred to the new facility expansions.
