European Sales Director
Black Swans Exist
How often have you checked your eye-vision as of late?
Would you have done it more regularly if you could look into your phone and have a diagnosis and prescription within 24 hours?
We are working with a SaaS and SaMD (software as a medical device) company doing just this and have the science to prove it works just as accurately as a traditional optician. This is the world’s first and only CE-certified online exam that can be completed using either your phone, laptop or table. And it is just beginning to hit the market.
Hence we are looking for a Sales Manager to lead their expansion in the European market. Having experience of selling medical devices (ideally software) or SaaS solutions related to the healthcare field would be a big plus, but ophthalmology background itself is not needed.
The primary targets will be insurance providers as well as healthcare and eye care clinics. The fact that it is also a medical device certified product makes it that much more credible in terms of offering it to healthcare insurance providers and others.
It is fair to say that it provides both unparalleled convenience as well as cost efficiency through scalability and just getting your foot in the door into many potential clients won’t be the hard part. In addition you already have solid userbase to draw case studies from that proves its practical use.
Given that this is a start-up you can imagine it is a hectic time. It is now that they need to grow and capitalize on being the first to market. So the travel expectations are extensive in order to build the necessary relationships with prospective customers around Europe.
Despite the Manager title this is a very hands-on position, but given the expected growth going forward you will be in prime position to take up more people management responsibility as well (if you desire to). So you will be in a great position to move towards a Director or CCO role.
Their own office is in central Amsterdam and they normally have a 2 day/week office policy. Of course, assuming you are not out in the field already. So you would need to be based in and around the Amsterdam area or able to relocate.
The significant part of the financial package will be commission and warranty based, but the basic salary is estimated to be in and around 80-85k euros per year. There is a bit of flexibility here based on experience and previous achievements of course.
Requirements
- Given the scope of this position we would ideally see 5 or more years of experience in a sales/business development position. If you have an outstanding track record we would consider less as well.
- Ideally you have experience with SaaS and/or medical device software products. Ophthalmology experience would be fantastic but not a requirement.
- Fluency in English. Any other European languages is a bonus
- Ability to travel extensively. It varies on week to week but this will sometimes be up to 5 days in a week. So if your situation requires that you be home 1-2 days per week, it might not be the right fit at this stage.
If this sounds interesting and you want to learn more, please apply here and attach a CV (does not have to be fully updated, we can deal with that later). Alternatively you can also reach out to Anders Sandberg at Black Swans Exist. He can be found on Linkedin.
