Our client, an innovative and well-funded biotech startup, is scaling a cutting-edge spatial proteomics platform that is set to transform disease research and precision medicine. As they transition from research to commercial-scale operations, they are seeking a Head of Operations to lead the optimization and expansion of their platform.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the operational strategy of a fast-growing biotech, working alongside scientists, engineers, and computational experts to drive innovation.
Role Overview
As Head of Operations, you will play a critical role in building and optimizing lab operations, ensuring the company’s transition to high-throughput, commercial-grade workflows. The position is approximately 80% strategic operations and 20% hands-on engagement, keeping you connected to the scientific and technological advancements of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Strategy & Implementation
- Establish and optimize LIMS/ELN systems, AI-driven resource planning, and project tracking to streamline workflows.
- Oversee equipment, reagent inventory, and staffing to ensure seamless operations.
- Implement scalable lab processes, shifting operations from a reactive to a proactive model.
- Explore and integrate automation and AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency.
Quality & Throughput Optimization
- Lead the transition from an academic research environment to a commercial-grade, high-throughput platform.
- Define and implement quality control (QC) standards to ensure reproducibility and data integrity.
- Collaborate with scientific, computational, and business teams to meet project milestones and resolve bottlenecks.
Hands-On Lab & Technology Engagement
- Dedicate ~20% of your time to wet lab and computational platform operations, including high-resolution imaging, computational pathology, laser capture microdissection, and mass spectrometry.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges, mentor lab associates, and refine workflows based on real-time insights.
